Automobile Extended Warranty

An automobile extended warranty refers to a guarantee of reliability of a purchased product under conditions of regular non-abusive use that extends beyond the stated warranty. The word extended is stressed because the warranty covers defects that may arise after the date of final sale and warranty.

Should the product malfunction within a stipulated amount of time after purchase, the manufacturer or distributor is typically required to provide the customer with a repair, refund or a replacemnet of automobile. Most extended warranties do not cover parts that would wear out from normal everyday use and supplies that must be periodically replaced, such as tires, oil or windsheild wipers, are not covered under any auto warranty, but may in fact be covered under their own manufacturer's warranty of service.

An auto warranty may be included in the original purchase price of the automobile and extended for a fee. An automobile extended plan warranty covers the autombile after that origianl warranty has expired and been renewed at an extra cost incurred by the auto's owner, or by a new owner who may have purchased the car as used and subsequently desires extra coverage.
